In an act of solidarity and resistance to the multi-layered violence in Ukraine, we as a collective of artists, invite you to participate in a public action as a show of support.

Part 1: Immediate response

Acts of Forgetting and Remembering: a massive collection of clothing in the distinctive blue & yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag to be compiled as a mobile installation in public locations, serving as both a manifestation of collective resistance and reminder of the tragedy so very often repeated in conflicts around the world. We also recognize the complexity and challenge that this (and every conflict) situation implies. We invite you to join us as partners & collaborators to expand the scope and impact of this collective installation. We feel the nature of the situation demands a quick response and propose the following schedule and ways to participate:

Part 3: A durational platform

This action serves as way to organize a platform of concerned artists and the community to create an expanded place to think collectively as the conflict evolves and new needs surface. We envision entering into future dialogues with other places in conflict and other forms of support in particular to artists in disputed areas.

We propose a layered approach to also respond to future situations, transcending the emotional response and looking for long-term action taking into consideration the aftermath of any devastating event.
As such, we propose a network interconnecting artists and arts organizations in the DMV area in a cohesive platform to be able to respond collectively to extreme situations in both artistic and pragmatic ways:

Can you do any of the following. (Details open for discussion.)

[+] Act as a collection site between (or around) March 10-14 Hours (and days) flexible to what works for you.

[+] Partner with us in creating and executing pragmatic actions to support victims of the conflict.

[+] Spread the word! Commit to sharing with your networks and social media.
